It was medieval custom to check your weapons at the door of the meadhall before greeting the king of the place you were going to. It was courteous and showed respect. You can see it in Beowulf.

I’ve not read the comics but I always figured Mjolnir wasn’t heavy so much as stubborn, and if it decided it didn’t wanna move it just wouldn’t. It sits on Loki, rather than crushing him in Thor 1, and in Avengers it rests on the floor of the ship, and trying to pick it up Hulk starts breaking the floor with his weight, but Mjolnir doesn’t seem to weight anything at all (If it was as heavy as Hulk implied, it would drag the whole ship to the ground right?). Mjolnir isn’t heavy, cos its not going down, instead it is a fixed point and everything else just moves around it. Hence, the hook doesn’t hold it, it merely remains in place.

so what you’re trying to say is that Mjolnir is like a chicken head

What if colleges only made you pay the percentage of tuition that you failed, so if you got an average of 86 for the year you’d only have to pay 14% of the tuition, but if you got a 94 then it’d only be 6%. Um, not it’s not a good summary and it really annoys me that anyone would say it is.

Not having Hermione’s ostentatious intelligence, Ron is often overlooked and singled out as the stupid one of the trio but I don’t see any evidence of this. People think it’s stupid because they compare him to Hermione rather than hold him to his own standard. Ron’s intelligence is about equal to many people’s, dare I say most of you even.

Ron was not confused. I’d like to see a concrete example of a time when Ron didn’t really know what was going on, or a time when he was the only one who didn’t know, because whenever Ron was a little behind in something Harry tended to be too. Ron could handle himself. He could fight. Harry trusted him to be capable. When they had to go to the department of mysteries Harry expressed reluctance to bring Ginny, Neville and Luna along, not Ron. I’m sick of all of this Ron-baiting. He wasn’t thick! He was of average intelligence. This means his intelligence was equal to MOST PEOPLE.

Ron was loyal, solid and dependable. He was a decent person. He was brave and trustworthy and entirely upfront about his thoughts and feelings. He wasn’t sly. These are all fantastic qualities in a person and they are so often overlooked because they’re not ‘showy’.

BUT WHEN I MOVED; I LEARNED ENGLISH IN LIKE 2 MONTHS BECAUSE I HAD TO USE IT IN MY DAY TO DAY LIFE. SO I JUST GOT ACCUSTOMED TO IT.

SO HERMIONE COULD HAVE READ THE WHOLE LIBRARY (WHICH SHE PROBABLY DID)

BUT RON LIVED IT. THAT’S WHY HE WAS THE ONE WHO WAS ABLE TO KEEP CALM IN SITUATIONS AND KNEW WHAT TO DO WHEN HERMIONE AND HARRY DIDN’T.

They are all smart in their own ways.

Harry was smart at defense and attack, dealing with dark things. He was smart at being the ‘hero.’

Hermione was smart with facts and logic. She was academically smart.

Ron was smart with strategy and survival. He was ‘street smart.’ He knew how to deal with situations that would keep them alive in the end.

Street smart is argued to be the most difficult and best smart to have.

Anyone can read a book, study it and try to memorize it.

Anyone can train hard and long enough and become a good fighter.

But not everyone can know about the world and keep their cool under dangerous situations.

Tumblr is always saying how being academically smart doesn’t mean you’re smart. It just means you’ve got a good memory. Everyone’s always saying how true smartness should be valued.

And yet here we are; with Ron Weasley, the perfect example of using the other smarts, and becoming successful because of it. And he’s portrayed as stupid?

Didn’t anyone ever think about how only Ron was able to keep calm in the devils snare. (Despite the movie which I’m still mad about.) When Hermione was panicking Ron told her to stay still and reminded her that she could stop it. “Are you a witch or not.”

There’s a reason he’s good at chess. Not everyone can be good at chess no matter how hard they try, because chess is about strategy. And you have to be smart to apply strategy. It shows just how cunning and strategic Ron is. And in the end it’s those qualities that get you somewhere in life.

Ron Weasley is a genius.

I think some people have a thing for Ron ;)
